Pakistan hosts one of the world’s largest populations, with an estimated population of around 217 million. It is also host to one of the largest refugee populations worldwide. In addition to high levels of poverty, vulnerable communities are also forced to cope with the effects of earthquakes, floods and droughts year after year. These natural disasters not only claim lives but also have a long-lasting impact on the socio-economic fabric of the nation.
The historic floods in recent years have been a stark reminder of the vulnerability of Pakistan’s communities, with millions affected, countless homes destroyed, and critical agricultural land devastated. The aftermath of such calamities has put an immense strain on Pakistan’s economy and its people, exacerbating existing vulnerabilities and pushing many into poverty.
Islamic Relief continues to support people across Pakistan to recover from the floods, including helping families to repair and rebuild homes, rehabilitating water systems, providing cash grants and setting up psychosocial support facilities.
This is where your donations will go towards: Supporting flood-affected families in Pakistan to rebuild their lives once again.
